However when a company owns its vehicles disposing of them can be far more time consuming and problematical; in order to avoid the significant reduction in value caused by part exchanging or disposing of the vehicle in the trade, a car has to be prepared for sale, advertised and someone in the company has to deal with the enquiries.

Fully budgeted costs is something a company can never achieve if they purchase their vehicles, except perhaps in rare cases, where the fleet is large enough and the purchaser has been offered a package by a manufacturer, part of which being that the manufacturer agrees at the outset, to a future buy back price.

It is astonishing that companies will invest something approaching 500,000 in a fleet no more than thirty cars. Some companies that buy their vehicles do use some form of car finance; finance lease or rather less popular now, hire purchase but the concerns with regard to future values remain.

With all the current benefits of contract hire, such as off balance sheet borrowing, fully budgeted costs and by taking a vehicle with a maintenance contract, a considerable reduction in staff time, why are more companies not using this method? It is perhaps simply that some companies are still not fully aware of all the benefits of this extremely versatile financing method.

It is a little like trading in stocks on the stock market. Stock traders usually buy and sell stocks very quickly compared with the average personal investor who will take the advice of a broker but often keep stocks for years or even decades.

How Does Currency Trading Work?

In order to illustrate how currency trading can make money for investors, let's take a look at an example.

Let's say that on the Forex market right now, the exchange rate between the Euro and the British Pound is as follows GBP/EUR 1.12. This tells us that for each pound you want to buy, you'll have to spend 1.12 euros. Now suppose that you think that the value of the euro will rise against the pound. You then sell 100,000 pounds and buy 100,000 euros. After a few days, the rate stands at GBP/EUR 1.06. You were right ? the pound has dropped to 1.06 euros. You can now sell these euros and buy pounds again ? and you will have made a 6% profit on the deal.

Now, this is more money than most of us can afford to trade with - if you have a spare 100,000 Pounds or Euros just sitting around, you probably don't need the money anyway. However, you don't have to actually have this money to get involved ? you just need enough money to cover any losses that may be incurred in case your prediction was wrong; the rest of the money is put up by the brokerage.

This amount of money is called your trading margin. You need to keep this in your Forex brokerage account and it is generally around 1-2% of the value of a trade. For example, for that $100,000 trade, you'd need to have a trading margin of $1,000-$2,000

The amount you trade is determined by 'lots'. A lot may be worth $10,000 or more depending on the currency and the broker. So if you want to trade $20,000 you would trade 2 lots and so on.

There are also what are known as limited risk accounts, where you can lose no more money than you have in your brokerage account ? this prevents margin calls. These accounts permit small investors to trade on the Forex market using mini-lots (fractions of a lot). You can trade .1 lot, or $1,000. This keeps risks low, but also lowers your profit margin (charges to trade will be greater).
